A New ‘Witch’ Will Haunt The Wookey Hole Caves In England

Anna Dixon, The New Witch of The Wookey Hole Caves

Located in Somerset, England, the Wookey Hole Caves is famous for its legend of a local witch cursing the area.

To keep this story alive, a “witch” haunts the area, scaring tourist with her creepy cackle.

With the resignation of the previous witch, Sunny Van der Pas, auditions were held to determine who would be suitable for the role.

26-year-old Anna Dixon beat 50 other people for the post, impressing the judges with her ability to cackle, as well as her “believable witch character”.

The former waitress studied improvisation at Dartington College, and will make use of her post-graduate degree in stage costume design to make costumes for the role.

Describing it as a “dream come true”, Dixon acknowledges that her predecessor will be “a tough act to follow” but is up for the challenge.

Some quirks in the job description include not being allergic to cats and having to work on weekends and public holidays, but this job, which pays UK£50,000 a year, seems to be more fun than sitting at a desk every day.
