Banksy’s Sphinx Sculpture Removed And Sold Within Hours Of Installation

On Tuesday, Street artist Banksy installed a replica of the ‘Sphinx of Giza’ in Queens as part of his ‘Better Out Than In’ project in New York. Before the day had ended, the sculpture was dismantled and sold by the owner of a nearby auto-glass shop.

The business owner known as Bernardo ‘Choco’ Veles hired men to haul the sculpture away part by part amidst boos and cries from the public.

The sculpture has since been sold to an art collector for an undisclosed sum. According to Veles, she pulled up in a huge gallery truck and made a deal with him then and there. He declined to comment further.

One of the men Veles hired even sold a cinderblock taken from under the sphinx for a hundred dollars. How much do you think the whole sculpture is worth?
