South Korean Firm Offers To Clone A Dog In Britain For Free

The Soam Biotech Research Foundation of South Korea has volunteered to clone a family dog that resides in Britain.

Pet owners who cannot bear to part with their pooch can send, via email or Facebook, a heartfelt essay to the company, persuading these scientists to clone his or her pet.

The winner will also get to be part of a documentary which will showcase how the cloning process is done.

According to the company’s website, the company can “prolong the companionship with your dog,” by allowing the owner to re-live the memories that he’s had with his faithful companion.

The company has cloned over 400 dogs around the world, boasting that it can clone any species.

However, this technology also has some drawbacks—the cloned pooch will not be an exact carbon copy of the dog, and will behave differently due to the different womb conditions that the new dog will experience.

What do you think—is cloning animals cool or creepy?
