Switzerland-based artist Fabien Nissels’ photography is often thought-provoking, distorting our conventional perceptions of people and objects.
His latest series, ‘Extracorporeal’, depicts the process of a woman ‘shedding’ her skin, which floats around like an eerie, translucent membrane. The pictures show her coming out of her skin, embracing it, and then abandoning it.
‘Extracorporeal’ literally translates to ‘occurring outside the body’, and the eerie photographs show the lifeless piece of skin drifting around aimlessly, having lost the body that it came from.
