Over 30 top artists gathered recently to re-interpret children’s drawings of the future into finished artworks in a campaign for London’s V&A Museum of Childhood.
The ‘Mind of a Child- -Eye of an Artist’ project was developed by AMV BBDO and the Central Illustration Agency, and featured an event staged at the museum during the London Design Festival in early September. Illustrators were briefed by children aged four to 11 on what their visions of the future looked like.
A second event was held on 12 October, where another 10 artists and illustrators were given instructions by a second group of children in front of a live audience.
The artists, who included pop art pioneer Sir Peter Blake, developed the children’s ideas in their studios, and the designs were unveiled earlier this week.
The finished artworks reflect a variety of styles, from Le Gun to Brian Grimwood via Hergé, and will feature in an online film.
Several images will also be used in an upcoming poster ad campaign for the V&A Museum of Childhood, which is being handled by AMV BBDO.
