Czech artist David Černý, known for his anti-communist stance, built and installed a huge sculpture of a giant purple hand extending an extra long middle finger days before the parliamentary elections in Prague.
The sculpture floats on the Vltava river, and the rude gesture is directed at the Prague Castle, seat of Czech President Milos Zeman .
With this artwork, Černý makes a blatant statement against President Zemon’s support of a plan by the leftist Social Democrats to form a minority government with support from the Communist Party.
