Last month, Instagram announced that it will be introducing ads to its photo-sharing app in the upcoming months, to monetize its business.
In a blog post yesterday, the Facebook-owned company has unveiled details—to give users a sense of how its ads will look and feel.
To make sure that ads stay true to the spirit of the Instagram community, ads will resemble a typical image or video posted on the app, and be seen in the same fashion as these posts on users’ feeds.
As a way to differentiate them, however, the ads will be tagged with a “Sponsored” label on the top-right corner of the post, where the timestamp usually is.
Introducing ads will not change anything else about Instagram, the company added: users will still keep ownership of their photos and videos.
“We want ads to be creative and engaging, so we’re starting with just a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community,” the company wrote in the blog post. “If you see an ad that doesn’t interest you, you can tap the ‘…’ below it to hide it and provide feedback about what you didn’t like. This will help us show you more interesting ads in the future.”
To find out more about how Instagram ads work, the social photo-sharing app has also created an About Ads page.
What do you think of the look of Instagram’s ads?
