A small Arizona-based business, The Paragon Space Development Corporation, has tapped on existing technology to create a helium balloon ride that is literally out of this world.
For US$75,000, the ‘World View commercial space tourism vehicle’ will be able to fly passengers to over 30-kilometers (98,425-feet) above ground level. A capsule will function as a gondola beneath the balloon and can hold up to eight passengers.
The space-qualified capsule will be fully pressurized to provide a breathable atmosphere as the vessel makes its 1.5- to 2-hours’ ascent into the upper reaches of Earth.
Passengers will be able to behold the curvature of Earth and its breath-taking blue atmosphere, brilliant stars, and the blackness of space.
