Photographer Spencer Heyfron contributes to the New York Magazine for a feature titled “Look Book”, where he shoots interesting individuals on the streets of New York City.
In collaboration with Austin, Texas-based illustrator Angela Southern, he has recently created a promotional mailer—“This Is New York”—for the feature that consists of his striking portraits accompanied by quotes from the subjects, beautifully hand-lettered by Southern.
Capturing the personalities of these quirky New Yorkers, the photographs are brought to life by the lovely hand-lettering work—the quotes themselves are also unexpected and amusing, revealing slices of NYC street life.
Weaving the words around the forms of the subjects, Southern aptly brings a very human touch to this series about real people.
