Want A Beard? Mustache Implants Are Now Possible

Mustaches can add style and individuality to a man’s outward appearance. Some men can grow a full beard, whereas there are some that hardly sprout much facial hair.

For those who can’t grow a mustache naturally—but want to look ‘manly’—there are clinics in Turkey that offer ‘Mustache Implants’, according to a report by Sevi Sariisik for the BBC.

For Turkish men, mustaches aren’t just style or facial hair that sprout on the upper lip, it signifies power and virility—which explains why such a cosmetic surgery for men have been proven popular in the country.

The surgery uses a technique called “follicular unit extraction”: hair is removed from hairy part of the body to be implanted to their upper lip or cheek.

These hairy upper lips, however, come at a price of about US$5,000.
