In the near future, you may be able to charge your phone with your clothes.
Recent news by Dezeen has disclosed that Netherlands-based Christiaan Holland, solar energy expert Gert Jan Jongerden, and fashion designer Pauline van Dongen have created wearable clothes that double as solar phone chargers.
The line of clothes called ‘Wearable Solar’—unveiled at the Wearable Futures conference in London—features flexible solar cells on its surface that can capture sunlight, and translate solar power into energy for smartphones.
When exposed to one hour of direct sunlight, the dresses can charge a smartphone of up to 50%.
Currently, the trio is still refining the technology and seeking investment; Wearable Solar may soon be available.
Would we be walking phone chargers in the future?
