Based in Chicago, Gracie Hagen has created a series of images that challenge our notions of attractiveness.
Called “Illusions Of The Body”, each person photographed was made to pose in an “attractive” way, followed up by another, supposedly unattractive pose.
In doing so, Hagen shows that the media chooses to portray people in a flattering light, and that comparing ourselves to these people will only cause one to feel inadequate and miserable.
Hagen also did her best to feature different body types and races, showing that these “normal” or “beautiful” bodies in the media do not truly reflect people as they are.
