Swiss origami artist Sipho Mabona is embarking on an epic new project where he would try to fold a life-sized elephant out of a massive piece of paper.

Cleverly named “White Elephant”, this large-scale paper sculpture is to be made from a specially produced sheet of paper that would measure 2,500 square foot—the final artwork would stand at an impressive 3 meters.

To produce the gigantic piece of paper and a time-lapse video of the process, Mabona is currently crowd-sourcing for funds on Indiegogo—pledging perks for the project include origami instructional videos, original origami of the artist’s famous koi and swallow designs and lovely fine art prints of his works.

If this initial project is successful, Mabona would go on to create more life-sized animal origami and exhibit them all over the world—if you would like to see that happen, pledge for his campaign here.
