Racist attacks are not necessarily physically aggressive, or inflicted by large organized groups—racist remarks are also abusive, and sometimes they are uttered so off-handedly that people fail to notice their impact.
Kiyun Kim, a 19-year-old student at Fordham University, put together a photo series that addresses these snide and racist comments, and how the victims feel about being subject to verbal abuse.
The series, titled ‘Racial Microaggressions’, features people of different races and cultures holding up signs that state his or her thoughts on ignorant comments and behaviors that they have had to deal with.
Kim’s project sparked a dialogue on her website, showing how common the issue is. Have you been victim to Racial Microaggressions of any kind?
