Professional Sleep Doctor Answers Your Burning Questions About Sleep

Dr. Nitun Verma, a Stanford-trained sleep doctor, has recently went on Reddit to answer questions about sleep.

The questions include, “what techniques could I use to try to either reduce my overall sleep needs or improve my mental focus between sleep intervals?”, “what are some common sleep myths that are actually false?”, and “what are the three most common reasons for people not being able to sleep properly?”.

According to Verma, we should get a full seven to nine hours of undisturbed sleep—a poor night’s sleep is caused by poor timing, poor quality of sleep, and poor quantity.

The misconception of sleeping in on the weekends to make up for the lost of sleep over the weekdays, will cause you to experience a feeling similar to jet lag, if you sleep beyond an hour to what you are used to.
