The Fascinating Evolution of ‘Wonder Woman’ As A Popular Feminist Icon

Fast Company has created a video to show the evolution of Wonder Woman, the ‘world’s most famous superheroine’.

Wonder Woman was originally known as ‘Suprema’, and was created in 1941 by William Moulton Marston, a Harvard psychologist who lamented the lack of superheroines.

She was once used as a drive for women to go into the workforce, replacing men who had left to fight during World War II—when the war ended, her popularity soon dwindled when her character became powerless and her storyline revolved around men.

After many fail attempts, she finally became a popular feminist icon, and is set to launch a solo film in 2017.
