A robotic bar, named “Makr Shakr”, is currently being tested at the Milan Design Week—amazingly, it is “capable of preparing approximately one googol (equal to 10 power 100) crowd-sourced drink combinations”.
To get a drink from the mechanical barmen, users will have to download an app and use it to mix cocktail ingredients virtually—this information will then be used by Makr Shakr to concoct your drink.
Collaborating with MIT Sensible Lab and SuperUber, Pentagram designed it to closely mimic every movement of a human bartender—the gestures of the robots are inspired by and modelled upon the work of famed ballet dancer Roberto Bolle and choreographer Marco Pelle.
Using robots to mix our cocktails may mean removing the human touch from one of life’s simple pleasures, but it will also ensure that you get your drink exactly how you like it every time.
