Haunting Photos Of The Antarctic Resonate Its Peaceful Barrenness

The Antarctic is a place devoid of much color or activity, much of it covered with snow.

Occasionally though, in the freezing and peaceful place, you’d find human life—such as, in these photos of German Antarctic research base, Neumayer Station II, captured by German designer and photography enthusiast Lars Focke.

The pictures that seem to be overexposed and contain lots of negative space truthfully highlight The Antarctic’s barren landscape of white snow.
