Photographers Mark Klett and Byron Wolfe has collaborated on a reconstructive photography project named “Reconstructing the View: The Grand Canyon Photographs”, where old postcards and pictures are layered over modern day pictures to create intriguing new images.
Using vintage postcards and photographs of the Grand Canyon shot by the likes of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, the duo arrange the older image precisely against the more recent photograph so as to create the illusion that the two blend into one cohesive picture.
These “reconstructed views” bring together the old and the new in a creative manner that shows how natural wonders like the Grand Canyon has remained more or less the same over the decades—on the other hand, the appearances of people in these pictures have changed a lot.
