Saturn-like Rings Around Earth Would Make For Spectacular Landscapes

Ron Miller from io9 has created some stunning looking illustrations that imagine what having Saturn-like rings around the Earth would look like.

Miller puts forward several hypotheses that explain the formation of rings around a planet.

One theory says that the rings were formed from material that were unable to form a moon, while another puts forward the possibility that the rings may be remnants of destroyed moons.

Any of these scenarios would be possible in forming a ring around the Earth.

Miller goes on to say that it would be easy to imagine what they would look like from Earth if they were the same proportion as those on Saturn.

Head on over to io9 to find out more about the rings around Saturn.
