While the Christmas sweater used to be a dreaded embarrassment bestowed upon us by well-meaning mothers and aunties, it has taken on an ironic appeal more recently.
This festive season, to encourage people to drink responsibly and show their support for designated drivers, Budweiser UK has introduced the Knitbot—a tweet-powered machine that makes cheerful Christmas sweaters.
Each time a tweet with the hashtag “#jumpersfordes” is published, the Knitbot would get to work—in other words, the more tweets are made, the more sweaters would be produced.
This social media campaign would end on 6 December 2013, after which Budweiser Facebook fans would have a chance to participate in a contest to win one of these red and white jumpers.
Limited edition can packs with the same sweater designs would also be available in store across the UK.
