To raise awareness about the dangers of smoking, Sao Paulo-based AC Camargo Cancer Center assembled a choir group comprising of recovering cancer patients.
Created with the help of ad agency JWT Brazil, the ‘Unexpected Choir’ performed in front of an audience at the Sao Paulo Museum of Art.
Instead of a powerful, vocal performance, the choir belted out inaudible renditions of two Beatles songs. The reason: the choir members had lost their vocal chords due to smoking and had to use prosthesis and other devices to sing.
At the end of their performance, they held up banners encouraging members of the audience to quit smoking.
