BuzzFeed has come up with a video that reveals 14 facts about the f-word that you “gotta f**king know.”
For example, it has Dutch, German and Swedish origins, and was originally believed to be an acronym for “fornicate under the consent of the king.”
It was officially included in an Italian-English dictionary in 1598, and was known as a rude term for sex, before it evolved in the early to mid-19th century to become arguably the most commonly used swear word today.
The video also highlights that if a single instance of the f-word is uttered in a film, its rating jumps from PG to PG-13; if there is more than one mention, it becomes an R-rated film. Amazingly, The Wolf of Wall Street is the second most profane movie, with a mind-boggling 569 uses of the word.
