Spanish NGO and The Cyranos McCann advertising agency have collaborated to bring hope to people living on the streets by creating typefaces from their handwritings.
Samples of the individual's handwriting was photographed in a studio and cleaned up before being converted into typefaces—they are made available for purchase at Homelessfonts.org. The proceeds will go to the Arrels foundation in support of efforts to help the homeless.
The once unnoticed handwritings on the cardboard signs of homeless people can now be used for commercial purposes—for instance, the Loraine typeface is used on the bottles and products of Valonga.
