In Japan, A Store That Lets Customers Walk Out After Trying Clothes On

Japanese company Fast Retailing Co Ltd, which is behind clothing brand UNIQLO, has launched a new shopping concept for its other fashion brand GU.

In this concept called ‘GU Fitting’, which was launched in-lieu of the opening of its new store, it allows customers to leave the premises—without paying—after trying on clothes to see how they would look in public.

After leaving down their name and mobile number, the shoppers are free to leave but are required to decide within the day if they want to purchase the clothes or return them.

Other guidelines of this concept include a restriction to thirty customers per day and a maximum of three items per customer.

Do you think this is a good marketing gimmick?
