Wonderful Vintage Maps Of Europe That Are Illustrated To Look Like People

The Flickr account Pictorial Maps showcases William Harvey’s whimsical works.

Created in 1868, these wonderful vintage maps are illustrated to look like people—for example, Harvey noticed that the southern part of Italy looked like a boot, and drew in a soldier to take on the shape of the country.

Harvey also managed to creatively incorporate the national costumes of each country into these maps, capturing the spirit of each nation.
