Sicily Kolbeck is a 14-year-old girl who constructed a tiny, functional home as a tribute to her late father.
Initially, the home started off as a school project for the then 12-year-old Kolbeck, who also enlisted her father for help.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck when her father was killed in a car accident, causing Kolbeck to lose interest in the project.
However, thanks to her father’s friend, Kolbeck decided to continue with the project.
Completed a year and a half later, her two-story house comes fully equipped with a bathroom, kitchen, and even a loft for a mattress.
Named ‘La Petite Maison’, it only cost less than US$10,000 to build, and the funds were gathered through her savings and donations from an Indiegogo campaign.
Read Kolbeck’s blog for more details on the building process.
