Azusa Murkakmi and Alexander Groves from Studio Swine, have created a collection of objects made from discarded human hair—who would have thought that this could be a sustainable alternative material?
The project titled “Hair Highway” uses hair bought from the “world's largest” human hair market in Shandong Province, mixed with resins and dye to create a composite material resembling that of an expensive tropical wood and exotic tortoiseshell.
These hair-made objects include combs, vases, decorative furniture and even an impressive dressing mirror.
