UK-based artist Gigi Barker of Studio 9191 has created a set of leather seats that are designed to look, smell and feel like human skin and flesh.
Using silicon as a base to give the seats a fats-like softness, Barker then covered up these lumpy, bulbous shapes with leather, which is “the closest material she could find to actual skin”.
She has also mixed the silicon with human pheromones and aftershave in order to make these seats smell like skin as well.
The “A Body of Skin” project consists of an irregularly shaped, rounded two-seater and a footstool—would you like to rest on this odd set of furniture?
