Artist Humorously Adds ‘Star Wars’ Characters Into Famous Paintings

Artist David Hamilton has been a big fan of ‘Star Wars’ since the summer of 1977. This inspired him to start a project where he reimagines famous paintings—including the artworks of Vermeer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt—by adding well-placed ’Star Wars’ characters into them.

These altered paintings are amusing to look at as the characters are often inserted in such a way that the entire message of the original artwork is changed to humorous effect.

For instance, C-3PO takes the place of the main subject in Edvard Munch’s The Scream because “he’s such a drama queen”, while the Girl with a Pearl Earring is depicted as holding a blaster to “see her safely around 17th century Amsterdam”.
