Although the project began as a joke, artist Victor Solomon has created beautiful stained glass basketball backboards.
The project titled Literally Balling features three basketball hoops with stained glass rendered in the traditional "Tiffany-style", with gold chain nets. The whole process required a huge effort, from designing, to cutting, shaping and soldering the glass, gold-plating the rim, weaving the customised net by hand.
According to Solomon, the project is an "aesthetic convergence of historical opulence and our modern day kings of court", a way of seeing how sports, art and culture come together.
