You will be hardpressed to find any universities with a course on data visualisation, but now you can learn it online for a small fee of $10 per month.
Information designer, Nicholas Felton, best known for Facebook's Timeline and his annual Feltron Report, is offering a class that introduces students to the art and techniques of data visualisation.
The course consists of 16 short videos which teach viewers how to use Processing, a data shaping app, and other skills like how to "parse a major data set", "juggle scalable vector graphics" and "render meteor strikes on a map".
