Before the advances in technology for computer generated imagery, most effects for the big screen were done manually. Ever wonder how the big slimy worm of Star Wars was animated and filmed?
In a documentary made by Jamie Benning of Filmumentaries, we see how Star Wars villian Jabba the Hutt was brought to life. Benning interviewed Toby Philpott, who was one of Jabba the Hutt's puppeteers.
For more than the fans of Star Wars, this documentary shows the effort and complexities in animating such a large creature. With three people altogether controlling Jabba's head, body and tail inside the puppet and up to two other people operating his eyes and giving feedback for each shot.
