Ever wondered about the hometown of Apple? Fusion's Silicon Valley Bureau Chief, Alexis C. Madrigal recently took a walking tour of Cupertino, where Apple houses its headquarters.
Located near the southwestern edge of Silicon Valley, Apple's presence in Cupertino was largely due to the fact that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak grew up around the area. Now about 16,000 Apple employees work at the many buildings Apple occupies in the city and millions of people have seen the town's name cited as the default location for all iOS devices.
Madrigal's tour of Cupertino covers the famed 1 Infinite Loop and the site of Apple's future headquarters. Along the way he describes in detail the sights and sounds of this small town, like the buses with tech employees commuting from the Bay Area and the Chinese Church in Christ in Cupertino, displaying an interesting dynamic with a divide between the Chinese community and the "Apple Cupertino".
As he ventures further into Cupertino, Madrigal continues to interview residents and examine how Apple has impacted the fate of this small town.
