YouTube is launching a new child-friendly app. YouTube Kids will be available for download for free on Android from February 23 2015. The availability of the app on other platforms will follow shortly.
YouTube plans to curate child-friendly content in the hope of easing parents' concerns about what their child is watching online. YouTube Kids will fit already existing child-friendly content into a simplified user interface.
The move also calls for reflection on how today's toddlers will consume content in the future. As these children grow up, YouTube will be synonymous with what most of us today consider "television".
