Artist Brings Gummy Bears To Live With Photorealistic Paintings

California-based artist Jeanne Vadeboncoeur has created a series of photorealistic paintings that feature charmingly expressive gummy bears.

The accuracy with which the artist recreates the viscous translucency of gummy bears is impressive—her depictions of the colorful chewy candies look good enough to eat.

Painting the candy bears in various positions—sitting primly, on their heads, toppled over—Vadeboncoeur has imbued her subjects with a curious melancholy.

On the other hand, considering that they are made to be eaten, it is perhaps understandable that the gummy bears are forlorn.
