Paper books are starting to lose their appeal in this digital day and age.
As a result, San Antonio, Texas-based Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff is planning to introduce a library system that is completely bookless.
Designed for the digital age, ‘BiblioTech’ lets users check out e-readers (as in devices to read e-books) for home use—just like a library book—or read books electronically (through computers) at the location.
To prevent the $100 e-readers from getting stolen, the bookless library would have a record of names and addresses of those that borrow the devices.
For those library goers that borrow and refuse return the devices, Wolff said that “in two weeks, your e-book goes dead, so you won’t have anything worth keeping”.
If the BiblioTech proves to be successful, the bookless library might expand throughout the county.
What do you think—at least no books would get stolen?
