Instant photography giant Polaroid is planning to open a chain of bricks-and-mortar stores this year.
The ten retail outlets, that would be called “Fotobars”, will allow customers to print and edit their digital photos from their smartphones, cameras of hard-drives—to help the digital generation rediscover the joys of having pictures you can actually hold.
After wirelessly transferring photos from their devices or social networks (such as Facebook and Instagram) on to one of Polaroid’s Fotobar workstations, customers would be able to add filters, fix red-eyes, adjust contrast and brightness, and—finally—print out the photos.
Customers can also choose to get the images physically framed, and can choose from metal, wood and bamboo materials.
“Polaroid is about sharing life’s most precious and memorable moments,” Scott Hardy, CEO or Polaroid, shared.
“We have been, and continue to be, about self-expression, creativity and fun. Polaroid Fotobar retail stores represent a perfect modern expression of the values for which we have stood for 75 years.”
The first of the Polaroid Fotobar stores is set to open in February 2013, in Delray Beach, Florida.
The Fotobars would also have a multi-purpose room for classes, private parties and portrait work displays.
