Street Artist Turns Ordinary Urban Infrastructure Into Humorous Art

St. Etienne-based French street artist OakOak—who works as a “pen-pusher” at his day job—uses stencils, paint and the occasional adhesive sticker to turn city infrastructure into humorous art.

Making use of cracks on the sidewalk and walls, abandoned concrete bricks and sewer covers, he is able to create imaginative stories featuring superheros, cartoon characters and even Edvard Munch’s “The Scream”.

By adding drawings and details strategically, the urban landscape is transformed into a fantastical wonderland—one never knows what one would find around the next corner.
