Photographer Soaks Film In Pee, Creates Mysterious Bubbles On Images

Photographer Brigette Bloom’s photographs feature mysterious blobs of bubbles, but you would never have guessed how they were created.

For her photo series ‘Float On’, the Hawaii-based photographer soaks her film canister in a cup filled with her own urine, causing parts of the film’s emulsion to be broken down by the liquid.

After cleaning the canister and drying it outside for a week, Bloom loads the film into her camera and starts shooting portraits of herself posing on the rocks at the desert near her house.

The resulting images show the blobs of bubbles altering and obscuring parts of her frames, giving her work an odd yet ethereal charm.
