Beautiful Seed-Like Burial Pods Replace Coffins, Doubles As Fertilizer For Trees

Italian company Capsula Mundi has created beautiful Eco-conscious burial pod containers, in hopes to replace traditional coffins which are made of wood.

Shaped like an egg, the pod is made of biodegradable starch plastic that would hold the deceased in a fetal position, which would be planted in soil just like a seed—the tree of the person’s choice will be planted on top of the buried pod, where it will get its nutrients from the decomposing pod as fertilizer.

This burial concept would trade graveyards for a “memory forests”, where family of the deceased could return to visit and take care of the tree in honor of their loved ones.

What do you think of this burial concept?
