In almost every Disney movie, the spotlight is on the princess, who simply put is just a lady overcoming hardship (in its various forms) and striving to settle down with the right man, all while looking good. How do you think Disney princesses will fare in our modern society?
Drawing similarities between Disney princesses and the women of our day and age, we imagine Mulan as the "low-maintenance" feminist friend who does not feel the need to impress and Ariel as the nervous friend who goes quiet in the presence of a handsome guy.
The more we ponder about it, the more familiar these Disney princesses get, along with the problems they face. Replace their gowns with leggings and skinny jeans and they might fit right in!
