To combat the image of pole dancing as an activity reserved for strippers, a group of women amateur pole dancers have created a video to explain their reasons for dancing.
In the video titled ‘Why I Dance’, they held up signs depicting their “outside title” which refers to how they think others view them.
The women come from all walks of life and include a teacher, an activist, a psychologist and a writer. They also shared their reasons for pole dancing; for one woman it was a form of empowerment while for others, it was a way of owning their bodies and sexuality.
