British Airways Spreads Brand Awareness Through Barcode Scanning

To raise its brand awareness in Brazil, British Airways turned to barcode scanners to get their audience's attention.



While many Brazilians were unaware of the other destinations—besides the UK—that British Airways had to offer, the airline decided to spread the message at the very moment people considered traveling–in the travel section of a book store.



By scanning their books on a barcode reader, consumers in a Brazilian book store would receive messages from the airline—informing them to fly to other destinations with British Airways.



The campaign was cost effective and innovative, achieving its purpose of creating brand awareness to the Brazilian crowd.
