Japanese architect Makoto Tanijiri of Suppose Design Office designed a residential home that merges the indoors with the outdoors.
‘House in Takaya’ located in Hiroshima, Japan, features a polished modern exterior, but incorporates the charming traditional “doma” earthen floor in its interiors.
Throughout the entire house, the “doma” acts as a hallway.
Besides being eco-friendly, it also has benefits as it keeps the home cool in summer, and warm in winter—and adds richness to the home’s interior.
Additionally, the Takaya House is also made of natural local materials found in the area—with lots of wooden boards and rustic materials.
