NASA’s Space Shuttle Launch Facilities Are Now Up For Sale

After wrapping up its 30-year run of space shuttle missions in 2011, NASA is now looking for new owners or tenants for its space shuttle launch facilities.

Maintenance funds for these buildings at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida is expected to run out at the end of this year and NASA is offering them up for sale or lease to interested commercial partners in the space exploration industry.

Sites up for grab at this unusual ‘garage sale’ includes massive shuttle landing strips and parachute packing plants, many of which played important roles in historic space missions.
