Art studio Red Paper Heart has created a light projection on the surface of a swimming pool by using 65,000 ping-pong balls.
By dumping all 65,000 balls into the pool, they provided a 'screen' for the projected light above the water surface.
The purpose was to create a memorable interactive experience in the water, with the idea of creating animations which party-goers could swim through.
“To go with our new screen (ping pong balls), we created an application which mapped to the pool and displayed a floating river of graphics, pulled by an invisible tide. Audio reactive visuals bumped along with the various DJ’s and musical acts taking place poolside,” shared Red Paper Heart.
“The tactile quality of swimming through ping pong balls, combined with animated colors and light, created an interactive event worth telling stories about.”
