To combat the ever-growing population, design firm CSRArchitects has unveiled plans to turn the spaces under London’s railway arches into houses.
The red-bricked railway arches are abundant in the English capital, and can be easily converted into viable living spaces.
Designed to be loft-style apartments, the arches would first be closed up with a special wall that would feature upward-facing ‘windows’, dubbed “skylights”, rather than regular windows—so that its occupants can be provided with sunlight, while ensuring their privacy is preserved.
Inside the apartment, the brick walls would be left exposed—giving the place a cozy, rustic feel—and the space would be divided into two levels.
The only downside: you’d have to put up with noisy ‘neighbors’ above.
Would you call a London railway arch a home?
