The human imagination knows no boundaries, and Ulisse Aldrovandi’s work is no exception.
These illustrations, which are from his book, the History of Monsters, showcase a vast array of weird creatures.
Aldrovandi is also considered the founder of modern Natural History, with this book being deemed his most complete description of nature.
As he was a professor of natural sciences at the University of Bologna, his knowledge of the sciences has also influenced his work, making it a creative mash-up between both the arts and sciences.
