Belgian graphic designer Veerle Pieters combines a charming pastel palette with simple illustrations and a playful typographical style to create a series of beautiful posters commemorating the 100th edition of the Tour de France.
Pieters based her posters on the design of an earlier infographic, using her stylized drawing of the French landscape as a starting point.
Pieters used the typefaces ‘Trend’ and ‘Thirsty Rough’ in the posters, although the type for the smaller words such as ‘la’, ‘ième’ and ‘du’ were hand drawn. She also used bicycle-related elements such as handpumps and bicycle chains to create a fun type in her posters.
The posters were “100% vector-based”, giving Pieters the flexibility to resize them without any quality loss.
